Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2006-07

Here are some trend tips to keep you looking great this Autumn/Winter.

Accessories

Accessories as usual are the key pieces to finishing off your outfit and they also tie your outfit’s colours together.

Belts

This season finish your outfit with a sexy belt, wide or thin. Wear them slung on the hips if you are pear or hour glass shaped. Tall and slender shapes should be brave and wear them high on the waist.

Shoes

Platforms are back in fashion and very big this season but if yours can’t be dusted off then low wedges and pointy kitten heals are a key staple in the wardrobe.

Bags

Are small and clutched, ready for the party season. If you’re a big bag lady invest in a leather tan and black bag. Shops such as Top shop and TK Maxx do great designer imitations.

Colours/Print

Keep this seasons wardrobe interesting with splashes of colour.

Red’s are a must but be sure you choose the right tone for your skin colour. Brighter reds are suited for Dark and Oliver skin tones. Lighter skin tones are suited for paler reds.

Try RED and Brown for a great contrasting mix.

Grey is the New Black. Worn the right way Grey can be as sexy as any other colour. For an instant outfit mix a grey cardigan with a pretty pink top and accessorize with pink beads.

Grey also looks great with earth tones such as purples, greens and even pale blues. Make sure you have the right Grey for your skin tone so it doesn’t age you. Try on different shades to get an idea of what you feel comfortable wearing.

Monochrome survives another season.
Black and White patterned tops are best kept for very slender bodies. Create a more sophisticated monochrome look by wearing a black skirt and white shirt with black beads or a black scarf. Choose opposite colours when it comes to accessorizing you outfit. Black accessories with a white tuxedo suit make a bold and sophisticated statement.

Print

Leopard print is here again this season and in a wide range of colours.

Don’t be afraid to purchase a sexy pair of leopard print shoes or a bag. Keep leopard print simple, and remember that less is more.

Knitwear

For a long knitwear has always been the extra layer worn to keep us warm and has not been fashionable, but not any more. …Jumpers and cardigans this season should all be worn with a belt to show off curves. If you’re not brave enough to wear a belt with your knitwear, go for a nice brooch.

Keep jumpers v-neck, scooped, round or go for a sexy cowl neck. Use a scarf to keep your neck warm (instead of a roll neck).

Try not to go for patterned pieces of knitwear. Keep them plain so they can be capsule pieces in the wardrobe.

Lastly give cardigans a sexy finish by wearing a satin lace top underneath.

80s

The 80s is back but only for the brave. Electric splashes of colour are seen all over the catwalk. The skirt suit is the easiest 80’s trend to wear. High waist skirts and jackets worn with a brooch not only shout’s fashionable but Power dressing.

Scottish Inspiration

Winter would not be complete with out the tartan inspired patterns.

It makes a strong impression but when worn right can be very sexy and youthful. Don’t over do it by wearing it top to toe, instead go for a smart tartan jacket in tonal colours (not the bright red version!) with plain wide leg trousers. Tartan can also be worn as accessories, such as scarves, bags and gloves. These are all great ways to add highland warmth to your outfit.

Masculine Sexy

The trouser suit is back this season with a bang.

Suits are masculine but have an added feminine touch.

Taller and curvy shapes should go for wide leg trouser suits. Create a feminine look by adding a blouse or wearing a girly colour under the jacket (jackets should be no longer then hip length). Finish the outfit with a necklace and a belt.

Smaller frames should go for slim cut trousers and bootcut styles as wide trousers will only drown your frame. Keep the jacket short and simple.

Feminine Smart

This is really the look for those who are not sure how to wear Masculine Sexy. Think Jacky O, it’s fitted with a relaxed tailored look.

Skirt suits and high waist skirts play a big part in this look.

Skirts and dresses should be worn with belts on the waist, and it’s about showing off your curves.

Short and Sexy

Hem lines are getting higher and higher but that doesn’t mean you can’t join in the fun.

Wear dresses over trousers. This creates a soft flowing and sophisticated look. This style is best suited for taller women. Be sure to wear a low slug belt on the hips to complete the look.

Petite frames can also do short but not micro mini. Keep it just above the knee but wear dark tights and knee high boots.

Layering

Stop yourself from over-heating by wearing layers. Layers allow you to look fashionable, add colour, and more practically keep you at just the right temperature for that shopping trip with Style Doctors.

The simplest way to wear layers is by wearing a jacket and under this wear a cardigan and under this wear a vest.

All the colours can be tied in to bring your outfit together.

Smart outfits can also be layered up to stop you from getting to hot or cold in the office. This can be done by wearing a coloured top underneath a shirt or blouse, this will keep you warm.

To stop yourself from getting too hot wear a coloured v neck jumper over your white shirt, and when you’re too hot take off the jumper.

Dresses can even be worn with layers. Simple cap sleeve tops can be worn underneath smart tailored dresses and a cardigan on top with a belt to show off those curves.

Coats and Jacket

As trends change so do coats and jackets styles, so if you have had your jacket for more then 5 years, its time for a new one.

Try to avoid a black coat but if it’s a must add a brooch or wear it with a great scarf, hat and gloves.

Coats with belts show off waist detail and are great for all shapes and sizes.

It’s important to have a verity of jackets and coats in your wardrobe as they all finish off your outfit in different ways.

Wearing the same coat to the supermarket and to an evening party won’t do anything for your finished look or your confidence.

Menswear Autumn/Winter 2006-07

Checks

Plaids and arglyes are back but keep things simple. Geometric colourful patterns will also be around but rememember to keep colours tonal.

Military

This trend is always here and there will be lots of military inspired jackets around this winter, although the styles will be less strucured than before

Tailoring

The blazer was the one of the signature styles for formalwear as was the topcoat which was re-energized on the catwalks in cool neutrals. A more relaxed style will also be seen in the shops with the silhouette becoming more fluid.

Belts

As menswear often follows womenswear belts are becoming more prominent this season. If you dare to wear a belt on top of your jacket that’s fine but our tip is to show off belts but keep them inside your belt loops.
